10th ANNUAL RUN! TURKEY RUN! 5K/STREET MILE IS GOING VIRTUAL
The Yellowstone Rim Runners and Run! Turkey Run! Committee are pleased to announce the 10th Annual Run! Turkey Run! 5K & Street Mile will once again take place on Thanksgiving Day with one difference this year… IT’S GOING VIRTUAL. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions, it has been decided to change these events to be held virtually this year. The goal once again this year is to OUT RUN HUNGER in the Billings Area and the funds raised will be given to 5 Non Profit Organizations who feed our friends and neighbors all year long. Those organizations are the Billings Backpack Program, Family Services, Meals on Wheels, Rocky Mountain College Bear Cupboard and the MSUB Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry.
The Run! Turkey Run! Thanksgiving morning 5K and Street Mile event was started by the Yellowstone Rim Runners in 2011 with the goal “to outrun hunger”. Since 2011, the race has donated over $250,000 to local organizations that work to eliminate hunger in the Billings area. Last year there were 2,596 registered participants and we hope by having the race virtually, we can beat that number! The deadline to be guaranteed a race T-Shirt & Pint Glass is MIDNIGHT OCTOBER 31, 2020. The traveling team Trophy for the group/organization with the most registered participants will be there again this year. Last year’s top team was the team from Rocky Mountain College.
As with all previous years, each registered participant will receive the 2020 commemorative Run! Turkey Run! T-Shirt and pint glass. To register for this year’s events, please visit the race website at www.runsignup.com or www.runturkeyrun.org. Information on when and where to pick up the T-Shirts and Pint glasses will also be listed on the websites.
The goal of this year’s event is to have everyone complete the 5 K or Street Mile on a course of their choosing, adhering to social distancing and enjoy the event like we have for the last 10 years AND raise funds for those amazing nonprofit organizations.
